WMS EXCLUSIVE! New Details On Lucha Underground Season 2!
Chris DeJoseph, co-executive producer of Lucha Underground, was a guest on Wresting Mayhem Show 503, and he revealed new details about Season 2 of Lucha Underground, which premieres January 27 on El Rey Network.
Most notably, DeJoseph shared exclusive new information about the season-ending Ultima Lucha special. The first Ultima Lucha at the end of Season 1 was a 3-hour extravaganza spread across 2 episodes. The Season 2 finale will be even more epic – 4 hours over 3 episodes. The taping for the big event is coming up at the end of the month. In all, there will 26 episodes in Season 2 – a total of 27 hours of new content for fans to enjoy.
DeJoseph confirmed the Lucha Underground Champion Mil Muertes and Pentagon Jr. will clash in Season 2. There’s the briefest of glimpses of their confrontation in the Season 2 launch teaser released last week.
Shockingly at the time, some characters were killed off during Season 1, and DeJoseph said more will die in Season 2. When asked about one of Season 1’s most notable deaths, DeJoseph said, “Bael will be brought up in Season 2.”
The story lines during Season 2 will reach beyond the confines of The Temple, and also transcend time. Some scenes will not take place in present day. That likely includes flashbacks that will reveal the previously unseen history of certain characters. DeJoseph said one such scene is among his favorites from the past several months of filming.
“There’s a backstory scene with Dario Cueto that is emotional and awesome.”
DeJoseph also promised viewers will be taken inside Marty The Moth’s house, and other locations outside of The Temple.
Some Season 2 story lines are still unknown, even to the fans who have attended the taping of in-ring segments. As was the case during Season 1, they will play out entirely backstage or in other locations. There will also be more characters that aren’t wrestlers, expanding on the successful presentation of Dario Cueto.
There are many betting options for boxing and each requires a different strategy. Below we’ll explain the moneyline, method of victory bets and total rounds wagers, visit this site if you’re looking for take on boxing betting.

Word about Lucha Underground has been spreading, and new ways to watch the show are becoming available. The show recently secured its first Canadian television rights deal with TLN (Telelatino Network). DeJoseph said, “There’s a lot of things in the works”. That includes making Lucha Underground more available outside the United States, and perhaps, making it more available inside the U.S. as well. A hope shared by many fans is to see a release of Season 1 on DVD. DeJoseph said, “I think it will become available for purchase at some point.”

The fight to keep Lucha Underground alive and make Season 2 a reality was not easy. DeJoseph discussed WWE’s pursuit of some of the show’s talent.
“They (WWE) basically tried to sign our entire roster, and pretty much tried to shut us down.”
In one way, WWE was successful. It re-signed Alberto Del Rio in time for him to return to the company last October at its Hell In A Cell event, and defeat the departing John Cena to win the United States Championship.
“I think that’s what they (WWE) want to do – just take everybody, sign them into NXT and then wipe out companies. I know they tried to do it with TNA, and I’m sure Ring Of Honor too. It makes sense. They pay someone $750/week, put them into developmental and in the meantime, they try to take away a company’s roster. And they can just leave those guys down in NXT.”
Whatever overtures WWE made to its talent, Lucha Underground was able to survive with much of its roster intact. It even added the show’s biggest star yet, Rey Mysterio. Months of hard work in Boyle Heights are drawing to a close. Soon, it will be time to return to The Temple, and see if Lucha Underground can once again climb to the same lofty heights it reached in Season 1.
